Ethan and Emma visit Aunt Vera and Uncle Ken at Grandma and Grandpa Samson's

Nanc took off work early and I picked her up at the train station in Homewood and we went to visit Aunt Vera and Uncle Ken. Unfortunately the only pic I have with either of them and Aunt Vera did not turn out, but here's a couple where you can see the cute outfits she got them. It was great to see both of you, we don't get to see you near enough. We need another Wilson reunion next summer.

Video of Ethan playing with toys

Here's Ethan playing with a toy I got the twins when they were less

than a month old at a moms of multiples sale. He and Emma can finally

sit up and play with it. Today is the first time he has spun all 3 on

his own. He can now sit up for 5 minutes at a tine so it is opening

new areas of exploration for him. Emma is a little behind but can now

sit alone for several minutes at a time as well.

Emma playing dress up with Mommy's hat

Look out Britney, think my girl Emma looks much cuter than you in her Mom's hat.

Here's Emma sitting on her own on her customized Rock 'n Ride.

Itook a Harley Owners Group decal and put it on the front. She is ahead of Ethan on the riding front. He still needs to be supported and now here Emma goes showing off riding one handed and waving (as you can see we were ready to grab her. She can't balance long). It was fin none the less.

Daddy why did you put Emma's hat on me!

Went to go on a ride and Ethan's hat was lost so we had to use Emma's
sunhat to protect his head and face. You know I will be saving this
pic to blackmail Ethan with when he's dating. Kind of like David's
picture wearing Lauren's pink Elton John sunglasses and bow on his
head. "What time did you say you would be home Ethan? Are you sure you
don't want to change your mind?" sounds about right

Flowering cactus on ride

Mom and Carl were watching Ethan and Emma while we took a ride and we
came along this. Here's Nanc by a flowering cactus along the edge of
Lake Wilson in Kansas.

Ethan crashed out as we cross Kansas

Ethan taking a rare nap in the car. Sleeping like a a gel now. Wish
that was the case last night :-)
Think Ethan and Emma can't wait to be in their own cribs again and to
be released from the confining carseats.

Vacation Day 6

IMG_1223.JPG

Today we went riding in the Buffalo Creek Recreation Area in Colorado. It was a great trail. A hours plus climb, then a hour and a half of rolling singletrack at the top and then a blazing downhill to the parking area.

Above is the view from atop Buck Gulch Trail.

Here’s Nanc and I with Ethan and Emma in a Pagoda at the Pine Valley Ranch Park. It is one of the only original historic buildings on the park. It was quite popular in the days before air-conditioning as it was near Pine Creek and in a shady area.

Here's Mom and Carl with Ethan and Emma in the strollers we had to buy to fit al the stuff in for vacaction. It was so nice of them to watch Ethan and Emma on vacation while we were able to get some mountainbike rides in.

Ethan and Emma visit Grandma and Grandpa Wiese

IMG_1851.JPG

Ethan and Emma finally got to meet Grandma and Grandpa Wiese. We took a vacation to Denver so Ethan and Emma could meet them. Mom Wiese was the only baby sitter I ever had and took care of me from the time I was 6 weeks old while my Mom worked. She, Dad Wiese and their children Ed and Shiela were like a second family to me growing up and we have managed to stay in touch even after they moved to Denver. I have such great memories of being at their house growing up.

Everyone has something especially wonderful in their life that they have no right to have and Mom and Dad Wiese and their family are mine. I always tell people how incredibly lucky I am to have them and their family in my life. I just hope I can do as well taking care of Emma and Ethan as they took care of me.

It was so great for Ethan and Emma to meet you all. Shiela made a great dinner and Ed, his wife Peggy and their daughter Amanda were nice enough to drop by as well. It was great to see all of you again and to meet Amanda.

We are on vacation ! -Day 3

IMG_1754.JPG

Here we are at the highest paved part of Rocky Mountain National Park just outside Estes Park, CO. It is over 12 thousand feet high and one of the few Alpine areas in the lower 48 states. The views were unreal. A nice person volunteered to take all our pictures together

IMG_1762.JPG

Here's Ethan practicing his running to get rid of the fussies that sitting in a car seat for hours can cause. I love the pic Nanc took because it looks like he is running off the rock and that I am trying to catch him.

Ethan reading his book and Emma playing in her exersaucer

  IMG_1690.JPG

Ethan can now sit independently for short periods of time. Here he is "reading" his book the library gave him. His idea of reading is to eat the book and then daddy has to pry the pages apart after they dry, but he is getting much better at sitting alone

IMG_1688.JPG

Here's Emma with such a great smile I just had to include it.

Happy 84th Birthday to the worlds best Mom

IMG_1682.JPG

Mom is 84 today and going strong. Hope your day was as special as you are. We got up about 5am and drove out to spend the day with Mom so that Ethan and Emma would sleep on the way out. It worked like a charm and they had a great time with Mom, Carl, Aunt Ruthie, Uncle Andy and Aunt Bev.

Daddy goes motocrossing

IMG_1195_2.JPG Finally got back on a offroad motorcycle after 30 years! All things considered I did not do too bad. Fred invited me to the annual Labor Day party at his boss Skips family farm where he and Fred have built a nice motocross track. Fred was nice enough to set me up with a bike and all the gear as well as some instruction. It was a blast and what a spread of food to boot. All of Skips family rides and they were all there. The young kids were ripping it up and as good as some of the adults (yours truly for sure). I can't wait to see Emma and Ethan get on some mini-bikes.Thanks to Nanc for letting me go, and thanks to Fred and Skip for a great time. Even though I had a great time, I must admit to sneaking a few looks at pics of Emma and Ethan on the iphone and couldn't wait to see them that night.

More pics to come from this party soon I hope. People are sending them. While I was away up near Galena motocrossing, Nanc was at a family party at her sister Jan's. Thanks so much to everyone there that helped take care of Ethan and Emma in my absence. Nanc was gushing with how helpful everyone was and what a great time she and the twins had. As you can see here they were enjoying theirselves. Sorry I missed seeing everyone.

Mom and Carl come for a visit

Mom and Carl came in today for a visit and Ethan and Emma had a blast with them. They let me take a nap and when I got up they had Ethan and Emma posing on the lounger on the patio. I know I am prejudiced, but they are just too cute. IMG_1654.JPG

Carl was holding Emma while she waited her turn for feeding and he put her to sleep before she could eat. She loves to just lay across you and then let her head hand straight down. Looks uncomfortable to me, but she looooves it.

IMG_1662.JPG

Here's Mom holding Emma in her sun-hat. Thannks for coming in and helping with the kids. We love seeing you.

Ethan crashed out in my arms

It was so nice today that Ethan and I sat out on the lounger on the deck
while Emma slept inside on the swing. I was talking to Mom on the
phone about Carl's dr. appt and looked down to find Ethan fast asleep
looking like a little angel.

Emma wants the camera

200909012308.jpg

It's getting harder to get pics. Emma and Ethan wither stop doing whatever they were doing and want to look at, or as Emma is doing here grab the camera or the camera strap.

When Nanc calls and I put her on the speaker phone, they grab the iphone and lick it, they think Mommy is really in the phone and want to kiss her. It's too cute.

Here's Ethan helping water the plants

IMG_1629.JPG

We got back late from taking the lawn wagon and walking over to Home Depot to get Nanc a mum for the front yard and Ethan and i had to water the plants as dinner was cooking. Notice the Goober from Mayberry brim flipped up look on his hat.

Emma and Ethan get their 6 month check up... and shots!

Well Ethan and Emma got their 6 month checkup and are doing great. They would have been happy if they were about a month behind developmentally since they were born 3-1/2 weeks early, but they made all the 6 month milestones and already achieved a couple of the milestones they look for at 9 months, like reacting to their name. She gave me one month to childproof the house. Ethan is already lifting his butt in the air and getting ready to do the scoot. Emma already rolls 4-6 feet when you look away for a minute.

Emma is now up to 50th percentile for height and the 30th percentile for weight. At the first month's checkup she wasn't even on the chart (don't know how you can be less than zero but she was) so she has come a long way. She has tripled her weight since birth.

Ethan is in the 75th percentile for weight and the 50th percentile for height so he is living up to his nickname of little man. If this keeps up we will be placing him on a diet, just kidding, the doctor says it's ok for now.

IMG_1640.jpg

Here's the cute Band-Aids they give for shots now days. Each got three shots, down from five they would have gotten last year. They came out with a new combined vaccine that takes the place of 3.

IMG_1631.JPG

Here’s Ethan with a cold compress on his head, since he got a fever from the vaccinations for the first time.

Emma learns cause and effect

Emma was so cute today. She figured out how to get into her yellow toy tote by tipping it over. She kept tipping it over, then tipping it back up. Over and Over. It was really neat to see her learn how to do it.IMG_1646.JPG
